Purpose of Our Processing of Personal Data
We use the information collected as follows:
OS uses personal information you share with us to provide products or services that you request, answer your inquiries or communicate with you about your account or transactions with us, and send you information about features on the website or changes to our policies. We may also disclose certain data to third parties that perform services on our behalf and have a need to access the data in connection with those services. Contractual agreements between us and such third parties provide that your information will be kept confidential and secure.
OS may use your email address to send periodic promotional emails and special offers. OS regularly analyzes data pertaining to visitor trends and research usage to improve our research, plan website enhancements, and measure overall website effectiveness.
Aggregated (non-personally identifiable) user behavior data collected through cookies may be shared with third-party service providers to either analyze or execute marketing programs.
OS collects the contact information of event attendees at the time of registration via our online registration system. An attendee's name, job title, company, and/or country will be transferred to sponsors of the event prior to or during the event. An attendee's name, job title, company, and/or country may also be made available to all event attendees during the event.
Event attendees may be provided with badges having bar codes that are scanned at sponsored activities or sponsor booths. Attendee contact information is transferred to any sponsor that scans the badge. Event attendees may be photographed unless they explicitly decline. Photographs of attendees may be used by OS to promote future OS events and other OS products.
Sharing and Transferring Your Personal Data
OS has offices in Houston, Texas. We conduct research and consulting work globally and our content is accessible globally. Any data and information that you volunteer or that is otherwise collected on one of our sites in any one country may be shared within the OS group. When using or disclosing personal information transferred from the European Union, we use standard contract clauses approved by the European Commission, adopt other means under European Union law for ensuring adequate safeguards, or obtain your consent.
We may also share such information with business partners, service vendors, authorized third-party agents or contractors in order to provide a requested service or transaction, providing you with information on products and services that may be of interest to you or in order to analyze the user behavior on our website.
We do not sell or rent your Personal Data to third parties for marketing purposes unless you have granted us permission to do so.
We may respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process by disclosing your Personal Data and other related information, if necessary. We also may choose to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
Data Security and Storage
OS is committed to protecting the Personal Data you share with us, and has the necessary organizational and technical measures in place to help protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. We mandate that our employees and data processors observe your privacy and confidentiality rights.
OS will not retain your Personal Data longer than is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by applicable laws or regulations. In particular, and if no such contradicting statutory obligation exists, OS will delete your Personal Data once you inform OS that you do not want OS to further process your Personal Data.
OS has implemented technical, administrative, and physical security measures that are designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, and modification. Please be aware though that, despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.
